What We Do

Semiconductor Innovation

Through the use of a specially prepared single crystal epitaxial oxide layer formed directly on silicon, La Luce Cristallina can potentially integrate most functional oxides on silicon and even other semiconductor platforms. In combination with the ability to deposit high crystallinity oxides at a fast rate without sacrificing quality, we can make optical-grade barium titanate on silicon or on SiO2/Si at thicknesses needed for photonics applications.

Our Product

Wafers/Substrates

Our flagship product is an optically active crystal-on-glass (COG) BaTiO₃ wafer integrated on silicon. Produced as thin disks measuring 200 mm in diameter and less than 1 mm thick, these wafers serve as the foundational substrates for photonic devices. They can be patterned and cut into chips to create photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for silicon photonics.

By enabling miniaturization of photonic chips, our wafers (or substrates) deliver unique performance advantages, improving reliability, reducing energy consumption, minimizing space, and accelerating innovation across data centers, telecommunications, sensing, and other high-bandwidth applications.
